Aroma Therapy: Flavor Oil

Flavor oil is added to products that would otherwise taste and smell rather unpleasant or bland. Our tongues, lips and noses are sensitive to foul odors and flavors. At the same time, appealing tastes and smells can evoke positive moods and emotions. Product manufacturers know this, so they take great care to make their offerings pleasing to the senses.

One of the most common places flavor oil is included is in lip balms and glosses. Some of these are so yummy you put them on just for the taste. Without flavor oil, these would most likely taste fairly disagreeable. Some soaps and foods also incorporate flavor oil.

Natural and Artificial Flavor Oil
Flavor oil can be natural or artificial. Natural flavor oils are often made with essential oils such as peppermint or vanilla. Artificial flavor oils are made with synthetic substances by human beings.

Sometimes with artificial flavor you experience a strange taste from the chemicals. Look for products with all natural ingredients. Natural flavor oils are healthier and usually less irritating for your skin.
